Cristiano Ronaldo has held talks with Bayern Munich as he plots a move away from Manchester United in the January transfer window. In an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo claimed he feels betrayed because United boss Erik ten Hag and club officials are trying to force him out of the club. But Sportsmail understands that Ronaldo and his agent, Jorge Mendes, met with Bayern last week after officials from the Bundesliga giants flew to England for talks. The Germans were also reluctant to pay the player’s £500,000-a-week wages after paying Liverpool £35m for Sadio Mane as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. However, Bayern have rekindled their interest amid concerns over Mane’s fitness and uncertainty over the future of Erik Maxime Tzupo-Moting. The American has a close relationship with Mendes and was interested in Ronaldo in the summer but met resistance from then Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. However, Graham Potter is understood to be equally excited by the prospect of signing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner at this stage in his career.
