UPDATE: 10:20 a.m Vernon RCMP say they are investigating a break and enter at the 27th Street Tim Hortons. Shortly after 4 a.m., police received a report of a B&E and theft at the restaurant. The break-in is believed to have happened between 1 and 2 a.m. when a person forced their way into the business and stole a number of items, police say. Officers have secured the scene and the Forensic Identification Unit is assisting with a detailed examination and collection of material evidence to support the investigation. Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area between midnight and 2 a.m. or who has information about the incident is asked to contact the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171. ORIGINAL: 9:10am The Tim Hortons restaurant on 27th Street in Vernon is behind the police tape. Crime scene tape blocks the drive and parking lot and one officer is outside while another is inside the locked building. Evidence markers can be seen on some tables inside.
