Seven men and two women, aged 21 to 42, were hit in the area of ​​Fifth Avenue and East 139th Street shortly after 12:35 a.m. Monday. The victims were enjoying a rally late at night when gunshots were heard. Police were initially informed that two groups were shooting at each other at the spot. ATTENTION: Where did the shootings take place and where did the victims flee? “We just think it was a gathering, a barbecue, of that nature,” said NYPD Deputy Chief Brian McGee. Five of the victims were initially found shot on a path over Harlem River Drive. The others arrived at Haarlem Hospital. A 21-year-old man was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital. The other eight victims are believed to have non-life-threatening injuries. A weapon was found at the scene. No arrests were made immediately and it was not clear what caused the shooting.
