In an effort to stay home from work, Ahmed Anwari told his tutor last December that he could not come due to a positive lateral flow test result. But his trick was revealed when he was asked to send a photo of the result as proof and it became “clear that the test had been changed manually with red lines drawn,” his disciplinary body said. The Lancashire Police Officer was then invited to have a coronavirus test at a Microsoft Team meeting, at which he again falsely claimed that the result was positive. When confronted, Mr Anwari admitted to falsifying the test and lying, saying he did so in order to stay at home under the then rules of self-isolation. He resigned a day later. Presiding over Monday’s hearing, Chief of Staff Chris Rowley found that Mr. Anwari had violated professional conduct and thus committed a serious misconduct. He said: “I think if Mr Anwari was still a member of the Lancashire Police he would have been fired. “Police officers must always keep in mind that the public expects them to maintain high standards of professional conduct.”
