The bodies of an Englishman, locally named Nicholas Smith, 81, and his wife, Hilary Smith, 79, were found in a Co Tipperary bungalow on Monday. Neighbors have expressed concerns for their well-being and reportedly have not appeared since late 2020 during the outbreak of the pandemic. Gardai said they were investigating “all the circumstances”, with post-mortem examinations on Tuesday proving vague. Mr and Mrs Smith worked on a cruise ship in Australia before retiring and had no children, according to local reports. “They moved here maybe 10 years ago, and kept a lot to themselves,” a neighbor told The Irish Times. “They were always polite and friendly in saying hello and greeting you if you saw them on the street, but they made it clear from the beginning that they did not want to invite them for tea – they were very private. ”
