Turn over computer in Miramichi Bay-Neguac
Computers have been able to reverse the riding of the Miramichi Bay-Neguac, which has been held by the Liberals since 2014. Newly elected MLA Réjean Savoie said he was happy to become the second French-speaking PC MLA in the parliamentary group, but said his job would be primarily to represent his constituents. “I was chosen for the people I ride and to represent them well and that is what I intend to do,” Savoie said. Prime Minister Blaine Higgs, speaking at a polling station in Savoy, said having another French voice in the parliamentary group was important to the government. “Having this diversity and views in our system is what we need to make the right decisions in the future, so this is great news,” Higgs said. Liberal candidate Shawn Wood went to the PC party headquarters to congratulate Savoie on his victory. He said he was disappointed with the result and said he would like to see more turnout. Liberal candidate Sean Wood said he was disappointed with the results, but came to congratulate Savoy. (Jacques Poitras / CBC) He said the fact that Savoy was giving a seat to the government may have pushed some voters to the PC side. “Obviously it would have more to offer than I could for the first two years for sure,” Wood said.
Rehearsals for a party
The two pre-election victories will boost the morale of the ruling Progressive Conservatives. Voting comes almost halfway through a government term, a time when governments usually have a hard time winning elections. Claude Williams, chairman of the PC party, said he was happy to see the party scanning the election and also electing a second French speaker. (Jacques Poitras / CBC) Claude Williams, chairman of the PC party, said the results showed that after more than two years of COVID-19 and inflationary hardships, voters were looking for stability – which he said computers could offer. “I think people [have] we saw good things with this government and I guess they want [it to] “Continue the agenda and vision of the Blaine Higgs government,” Williams said.
Questions about the Popular Alliance
The election, however, is probably not what the members of the People’s Alliance hoped for. The party disbanded earlier this year when its former leader, Kris Austin, crossed the floor and joined the computers. The party soon revived under new leader Rick DeSaulniers, but does not seem to be well on its way to resuming its strong showing in the region in 2020, when it finished second in the Southwest Miramichi-Bay du Vin and third in the Miramichi Bay-Neguac. . Rick DeSaulniers, a former Fredericton-York MLA, was recognized as the leader of the New Brunswick People’s Alliance in May. (Jonathan Colicott / CBC) Equestrianism was formerly represented by the liberal Lisa Harris (Miramichi Bay-Neguac) and the Progressive Conservative Jake Stewart (Southwest Miramichi-Bay du Vin.) Stewart would later win the Miramichi-Grand Lake federal seat under the Conservative Party of Canada.
