CNN’s Capitol Hill reporter Melanie Zanona told Inside Politics on Sunday that Democrats were “privately panicking” over President Biden’s inflation messages for months. “Inside Politics” presenter Abby Philip asked Zanonas about a meeting Democrats had with White House aides on the Hill last week. “How did this go?” asked. “Not good, to put it mildly, listen, Democrats, they panicked privately. They say for months, in December they started pushing the White House to take control of inflation, start talking about it,” Zanona said. Inflation jumped to 8.6% in May, marking another 40-year high. US President Joe Biden remarks at Morehouse College and Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, January 11, 2022. When officials came to the hill, they told Congress “to blame other people, to accuse corporate greed, to start talking about what we do legally to talk about these issues,” according to Zanona. He said Democrats did not feel “armed” with a post-meeting method of exchanging messages about inflation, adding that officials were late for the meeting. DEMOCRATIC, DEMOCRATIC STRATEGIES OPEN FOR BIDEN SUSTAINABILITY Ahead of 2024 The Wall Street Journal reporter Tarini Parti told the department earlier that the president was trying to give a positive turn to the bad economic numbers, doubting that a recession was inevitable. He compared it to the government’s early messages about inflation, when the president and administration said inflation was “temporary” and would subside after a few months. Biden told the Associated Press on Thursday that the recession was not “inevitable.” US President Joe Biden talks about inflation and the economy at the South Court Auditorium on White House Campus on May 10, 2022, in Washington, DC (Photo by Drew Angerer / Getty Images) BIDEN RECORDES SPEECH, LIE, INFLATION AND PUTIN He also said that the idea of the US rescue plan causing inflation was “strange”. “Of course that did not happen, so you see the White House doing its best right now, months before the midterm elections to really try to find its basis in the inflation messages, but it really remains to be seen if this will work because voters struggle daily with gas prices, with food prices. “So, some kind of repulsion from the president can get there,” Party said. New York Times correspondent Jonathon Martin said high gas prices, inflation and more would be difficult for Biden to overcome. “I think the frustration of the Democrats is that the people of Biden have been aware of this for months and that there is still no clear plan to deal with it other than trying to turn things around in the Democratic Party, but even Biden does not do this consistently. “Think this is another disappointment,” he continued.
