Most of the victims of the shootings were injured on the south and west sides. Five people were injured in a single attack Friday night in the Douglas area on the South Side. They were standing in a parking lot at 3,000 square of South Rhodes Avenue when a gunman opened fire at 11:45 p.m., police said. Three teenage men in their 20s and an 18-year-old woman were injured in the attack.
Homicides
A 36-year-old woman was shot dead Sunday in West Englewood. It was on a sidewalk around 8:30 p.m. at 6400-square-foot South Marshfield Avenue when someone opened fire, hitting her on the head, Chicago police said. The woman was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Police initially said the woman was 60 years old. Area 1 detectives are investigating. Early Sunday, a man was killed in Englewood on the South Side. Police found the 40-year-old on a sidewalk with gunshot wounds to the head and body on the 700-square West 73rd Street around 3:35 a.m., police said. Rescuers rushed him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police did not report any arrests. A man was shot dead in the Near West Side on Friday night. The 22-year-old was sitting in a vehicle around 11:45 p.m. when a red car passed by and someone inside shot at 2300-square-foot West Harrison Street, police said. He was shot in the back and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died. Someone opened fire on him around 8:30 p.m. at 8400-square on South Bennett Avenue, Chicago police said. The 30-year-old was transported to the Medical Center of the University of Chicago, where he was pronounced dead.
Non-lethal attacks
Three men were injured in an attack in Humboldt Park on Friday. Officers responded to the shot at around 9pm at the 800-four-storey North Central Park Avenue Avenue, police said. All were hospitalized. Also Friday, a 17-year-old girl was injured in southern Chicago. He was in a ferry at about 9:50 p.m. on the 8800-block on South Mackinaw Avenue when someone opened fire from an SUV, police said. He was shot in the shoulder and was treated in good condition. Early Saturday, a woman was shot in the River North. A man approached the vehicle in which he was standing and pointed a gun at the 100-block on West Illinois Street. The man who was driving tried to leave as the gunman shot at the vehicle, hitting the woman on both her legs. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
