Police say a 20-year-old man in hospital with serious injuries and another man are in custody following an alleged shooting in the Goulds area of St. John’s on Sunday night. Brandon Chafe, 21, appeared in St. Louis District Court. John’s on Monday morning, a few weeks after he was released on bail for a firearms dealer. Chafe faces 10 charges related to an incident on Sunday night, including aggravated assault, multiple firearms offenses and breach of release order. “Yes,” Chafe replied when Judge Lois Skanes asked if he understood the charges against him. Chafe, who has no criminal record, was arrested on May 29 for trafficking firearms. This offense is linked to a series of violent crimes in the St. John area in early May. Chafe is scheduled to appear in court on July 4 via video call. Chafe is ordered not to have contact with the victim.
