(File photo.) Residents of northeast Avalon can expect a big blast tomorrow. The City of St. John’s is advising residents of a planned blowout at Robin Hood’s Bay tomorrow morning around 9:00 AM. Depending on the weather and cloud cover, the explosion could be heard over a very wide area. The city says blasting is necessary to produce rock under a recent contract awarded to Capital Ready-Mix. Marshalls will be stationed along the nearby East Coast Trail to alert hikers who may be in the area at the time. People are being asked to avoid the area tomorrow morning.
