The Times said the prime minister and his chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, plan to slow spending increases after 2025 from a planned 3.7 percent to just 1 percent. The plans will form an important part of the government’s drive to plug a £55bn black hole in public finances by 2027-28, saving around £25bn a year. But economists said there would be a significant squeeze on spending because budgets outside protected areas such as the NHS would rise less than inflation. The Tories will face accusations from Labor that they are
