Chelsea transfer target Usman Dembele has reportedly told Barcelona coach Xavi that he would like to stay at the Nou Camp, writes JOSHUA MBU. The 25-year-old is completed at the end of the month. A move to Stamford Bridge would see Dembele reunite with Thomas Tuchel, under whom he worked at Borussia Dortmund. However, according to the Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Dembele contacted Barça coach Xavi that he would like to stay. From Barça’s side, the club is not willing to back down from the offer it already has on the table to the Frenchman. If Dembele re-signs with the Catalan giants, he will play an integral role in Xavi’s front line. In May, Xavi said of Debele’s situation: “Negotiations are ongoing and we will be optimistic. “I hope he can stay – he has helped us a lot in the last six months. “He is a crucial player with a lot of assists and he has been excellent in many games. “When he has not played, we have missed him. “He is a footballer that I like and we would like to stay, but we have to see.”
