California police have arrested an armed suspect after he locked himself and two hostages inside a hotel room in Los Angeles, leading to a long-running confrontation Monday.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office says officers responded to a call for a deadly gun attack late Sunday night. The suspect then entered his room at the Travel Lodge Motel, taking two adult women hostage, according to police.
Police remained at the scene for hours to negotiate with the suspect. He was finally handed over to the police at 7:40 a.m. local time and no injuries were reported, according to Fox 11.

The long standstill elicited a strong response from the LAPD, which developed a SWAT unit that was eventually not used.
