As the Red Air flight from Las Américas International Airport in the Dominican Republic approached the runway on Tuesday night, the landing system “collapsed,” the Federal Aviation Administration said. The problem with the landing system caused the fire. The ship was carrying 126 people and three were taken to hospital with minor injuries, said Miami-Dade Aviation Department communications director Greg Chin. The other passengers were transported by bus to the terminal. Videos posted on the internet showed the flames, which have since been extinguished, Qin said.
