Flight 203 of the Red Air civilian transport aircraft made an emergency landing around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday after trying to land at the airport and something potentially went wrong with the landing gear. About 140 people and 11 crew members were on board. The plane collided with several objects and led the fugitive to the grassy area between the runway and the taxi route. A communications / radar tower standing in its path was removed from the plane, along with a small building in the area. The tower seemed to be wrapped around the right wing of the plane, where the fire started. Rescue crews of the Fire Brigade rushed to the scene and managed to quickly extinguish the fire using foam vehicles. The plane was evacuated. Those on the plane appeared to be in good condition. However, four people were reportedly slightly injured, two of whom were taken to hospital. It remains unclear whether landing system problems occurred before or when it landed. Runways 9 and 12 on the south side of the airport, near Highway 836, are currently closed. Travelers should contact their airlines to see if their flights have been affected.
