The burned remains of Tammy’s trailer in the Carmi area. A mother lost everything in a fire last week in the Carmi area. The fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in a trailer on a property north of Beaverdell. Tammy, along with her 14-year-old son, lived in the home. Since the fire, Tammy’s friends Angel Deakin and Andy Pichie have been working tirelessly to help the family by providing clothes and beds for them. The house was uninsured and Deakin says the family doesn’t have the income to get back on their feet. Tammy’s son is on the autism spectrum and needs the space the trailer gave. Other family members live in another small house on the property and the couple has been forced to stay there for the time being. But it wasn’t easy for the young lad. “He needs a quiet place to go, very little activity around him, he does best in his own space. And having other children, the house is very busy,” Deakin said. The house they live in now is about 900 square feet and currently houses seven people. “He loves his family, but it’s too much for him,” Deakin said, adding that the fire was traumatic for the family. Not only did they lose their home, but their two cats and two dogs died in the flames. They are not sure what started the fire. Deakin and Pichie have set up a GoFundMe page for Tammy, hoping to raise enough money through the community to replace the damaged trailer.
