“We asked for help in investigating this crime and after receiving important information from the public, VPD officers identified (a) suspicious driver and arrested him at his home in Vancouver yesterday for the fatal beating and running,” Sgt said. said Steve Addison, in a statement Tuesday. “One of the driver’s family members was also arrested and we are investigating whether this person acted as an accomplice after the deadly collision.” The pedestrian, a man, was walking near the house around 11:30 pm on Sunday when he was hit and killed by a vehicle that, according to police, was speeding near West 4th Avenue and Arbutus Street. The driver took off, but several passers-by stayed behind and tried to help the victim. Addison said witnesses provided valuable information to police. He said the alleged driver, 25, and a 63-year-old family member were arrested without incident. No charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
