A local report describes her as Irish and another as British. The young man was taken to Son Espases Hospital in the capital of Mallorca, Palma. The hotel from which he was rushed to the hospital has been named as the four-star HYB Eurocalas hotel on the east coast resort of Calas de Mallorca. He describes himself on the internet as an all-inclusive family-run apartment hotel ten minutes walk from the beach.

Local reports said lifeguards spotted her motionless at the bottom of the pool and jumped in to pull her out of the water before giving her cardiopulmonary resuscitation because she had suffered a heart attack. Rescuers continued to try to resuscitate her after they reached the spot and took her breath again. She has been admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit at the Son Espases Hotel. The alarm sounded shortly after 3.30pm on Monday. A receptionist at the hotel said he was unable to comment at this time. No one was immediately available for comment at Son Espases Hospital or the local police or National Police, which is believed to have set up a special operation to get the young man to the hospital as soon as possible.
