Suds samplers are going to have to wait another year. Organizers have decided not to hold a Great Okanagan Beer Festival in 2023. In a social media post, organizers shared the cancellation is due to the “current economic and societal climate.” “We are extremely saddened to announce that the Great Okanagan Beer festival, presented by The Train Station Pub, will not be moving forward for 2023.” “This decision was not easy for us, and many factors and options were heavily considered before coming to this conclusion. We appreciate all your support as we have navigated challenging conditions over the past few years. We want to extend a huge thank you to all the breweries, partners, community members, and our fans,” the post on Instagram said. Back in February of this year, organizers announced the 2022 festival was cancelled. “The timing of the lifting of capacity restrictions at restaurants, bars and nightclubs in B.C. was too tight to execute GOBF at full capacity, noted one of the event’s directors Brittia Thompson.” This is the fourth time since the COVID-19 pandemic began that Beerfest has been postponed to the following year.
